Tom Sondergeld is a revolutionary global executive with proven success transforming the program structure, strategy, and distribution mechanisms with operational excellence at Walgreens, a top 50 employer in the world. In his new and current role, Tom is the Director of Digital Innovation for the EHIR. He is also the owner and Senior Consultant for his consulting business, TS Consulting Services. In this role Tom has been consulting with innovative startups, transparent PBMs, employer groups and large employers using his over 25 years of benefit leadership to help businesses improve offerings to members and users. Tom is also a Senior Advisor with McKinsey & Company consulting on employer benefits and payor solutions. In his last role with Carrot, Inc, Tom was exposed to an exceptional product, Pivot Tobacco Cessation, in a Start Up environment. This was an awesome experience and helped understand the complexities of marketing a digital innovation to the employer and payor marketplace. Broadly networked to the nation’s largest insurance/TPA organizations, employer coalitions (EHIR, NBGH, HTA), large and mid-sized employers, and healthcare solution innovators. A financially astute leader that has consistently demonstrated the ability to save hundreds of millions of dollars while avoiding increased member costs. - Discussions or projects from PE/VCs that are considering investments or acquisition of benefits administration platforms
- Strategy project for an employer healthcare vendor (e.g., benefits administration, digital solutions, wellness, HSA provider, etc.)
- Participate or support RFPs, contracts, evaluations, etc of any employer healthcare vendor
- Analysis of any service provider
